CISO track on CIODAY2024
At CIODAY2024 there will be a special program for CISOs
The Cyber Resilience discussion tables at CIODAY focus on equipping CxOs with strategies and best practices to strengthen their organizations’ ability to anticipate, withstand, and recover from cyber threats.
Participants will explore real-world scenarios, learn about the latest resilience frameworks, and engage in discussions on building robust cybersecurity measures that align with business continuity goals. These workshops and discussion tables are designed to provide actionable insights to enhance overall organizational resilience.
There are six discussion tables:
1. Your CISO is your friend. Give them a seat at the boardroom table.
Your CISO is your ally in the boardroom. He or she plays a pivotal role in shaping the cyber resilience and risk posture your company is willing to adopt. In this session, Stephen North, group CISO at BDR Thermea, will discuss what he brings to the table during the monthly board sessions. This has been a 5-year journey for Stephen and BDR Thermea. Join us to accelerate your journey.
Speaker: Stephen North, Group CISO at BDR Thermea
2. Security over convenience: expert insights and peer discussions on cyber resilience
There's always a tension between operational efficiency and robust security measures. This session will delve into the critical theme of "Security Over Convenience," exploring how organizations can strike the right balance to achieve cyber resilience. Ryan Barbour, the former Global CISO of Ahold DelHaize, will share his experiences and insights. He will provide real-world examples and best practices for maintaining security in a (globally) distributed environment.
Following Ryan's insights, you can discuss your experiences, challenges, and strategies with fellow attendees. By leveraging the collective knowledge and experience of our featured expert and your industry peers, you'll gain practical insights to make your organization more resilient. Join this interactive session and learn how to enhance your cybersecurity posture without compromising convenience.
Speaker: Ryan Barbour, Vice President and CISO at ReliaQuest
3. Best-of-breed vs best-of-suite in cybersecurity
Which side of "best-of" is your organization on? Join us for a pragmatic exploration of the pros and cons of best-of-breed or best-of-suite. Discuss how your position as a CIO or CISO in that paradigm might rapidly shift as the cybersecurity threat landscape evolves and the vendor landscape seeks to follow suit. The session outcomes will offer participants insights into which inflection points might tip the scale to the other side of "best-of" for their organization.
Speaker: Esther Schagen-van Luit, Chief Security Advisor (CSA) at Microsoft
4. Enhancing resilience while saving costs: threat protection, user access & automation
The current economic volatility and the evolving technology landscape intensify the complexity and security risks for companies. IT & security leaders are asked to keep their digital environments up with the latest security solution trends while decreasing costs. In this session, we will discuss how we can leverage AI, integrate different IT & security systems, automate digital identity & access management processes, and employ real-time threat intelligence.
Speaker: Mark van Leeuwen, RVP Benelux, Okta
5. Effective ways to enhance security in a digital landscape
This roundtable discussion will explore the key challenges and opportunities in digital transformation and cybersecurity. How can you make employees more aware of their role in cyber security? What is the best approach against threats such as phishing and ransomware? How do you ensure a safe, accessible working environment without increasing complexity?
This is the ultimate opportunity to work with peers on a future-proof and resilient strategy. Exchange your ideas, share your experience, and gain insights that you can apply immediately. Ready to sharpen your vision and expand your network? Then join us for this session.
Speaker: Zahier Madhar
6. How the modern CISO turns cybersecurity into a business enabler
Can cybersecurity truly be a business enabler or is it just a buzzword? Gain insights from Northwave’s research on the changing role of the CISO. Share experiences, discuss challenges, and co-create an article reflecting the CIODAY perspectives on this topic to share within your network. Let’s shape the future of cybersecurity leadership together!
Speakers: Renate Hendriksen and Edward Ho
